Isabella Szwender was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, and is passionate about helping the legal community. She received her Honours Bachelor of Arts in a Double Major of Law and Human Rights from Carleton University. She then moved to

 

Thunder Bay to complete her Master of Arts in Social Justice Studies at Lakehead University. Isabella is in her third year at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and expects to receive her Juris Doctor degree in June 2026. She is passionate about connecting her social justice background with the legal profession to offer accessible services.

 

She has experience working for Lakehead University Community Legal Clinic as a student Caseworker and has volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada throughout Law School. As a placement student, she is most excited about learning about First Nations governance, child and family services law, and human rights. 

 

In her free time, she loves hiking, finding new recipes to cook, and being outside.
